Born and raised in Morocco; residing in Boston USA for 30 years. Trained as an engineer and deeply experienced as a project manager. Passionate about everything that is Morocco and what it offers the world, Gus travels to Morocco frequently.
Growing up in the 1970s and 80s, I accompanied my father every Saturday to the fish markets in Casablanca and Rabat, where I learned a great deal. Baba shopped for seasonality and freshness. Even then, fisheries were a a key part of the economy.
I remain attuned to food, culture, and terroir. As a consumer in the Boston area, I shop at ethnic markets, boutique emporia, and large chain markets about 5 times per week.
Morocco is an emerging market that has ‘upped its game’ and become a big player both in North Africa and as part of the overall African continent.
Its geography and terroir allows it to showcase its abundance and variety of fish species.
